Pros

It was a good place to work, but much better place to put in CV... In Budapest office, there were fairly big projects with relatively good professional content.

Cons

Bad management quality in terms of employee management always put a strong burden on us. I was a student there, that was a part time job. Although I prepared everything they asked me to do, they did not offer me anything after one year. At the time I was there 13 people of the 20 pofessional staff was replaced in 2 months. I believe that is not ordinary. There was no career path.

Pros

A great training ground. Teaches you early in your career to distill most business problems to the essential issues. In theory it can give you exposure to a variety of industries, although people often get pigeonholed in industries they happen to have worked in before. Very nice salary, bright and committed colleagues.

Cons

Grueling travel commitments as in all big consulting firms. Projects are sometimes ill-conceived and poorly planned (a partner basically sold (oversold) a project wihout having any idea of what we were getting into or even whether this was really necessary.

Pros

Incredibly smart people, passionate about making a difference with its clients. The career development process is helpful in letting you identify your strengths and weaknesses. You get formal feedback on your projectson ~3 month basis and then your career development councelor aggregates feedback and provides you insight on your promotion timing every six months Benefits are second to none (fully paid health insurance), profit-sharing, end of year bonus, etc. Oppportunity for international experience. It is not mandatory but the option exists to work on projects in other markets either from BCG offices abroad or from your own US office. z

Cons

Volatility of hours. Some weeks you work forty hours, other weeks you work 70. Total hours. A lot of people will say that the work live balance is good, and I think it is if you are looking at the job compared to other consulting firms. I have friends at other firms that put in a lot more time than I do (it depends on the BCG office you are in however). If you compare this job to brand management or other general management jobs I think the hours would be less. You comp might not be as nice though Some (not all) of the senior partners can be a bit arrogant and difficult to work
