Great Company, great benefits

Pros

Good opportunity to advance if you work long hours. Competitive salary and benefits.

Cons

Lots of reorganization and downsizing. Businesses must make financial KPIs quickly and consistently or they will be restructured or sold off. Lots of job loss, lots of turnover. It is harder to keep a marginal business going sometimes than it is to make a profit in a growing one, but hard work in a declining business is not rewarded.

Pros

Great work environment Great People - vast majority are interested in establishing and maintaining productive work relationships Great Benefits - Healthcare, Tuition Reimbursement, Strong 401K Flexible work arrangements (virtual office is an option for some roles) Work life balance Option to spend 3 to 5 years working abroad or overseas

Cons

Company wants to see you spend 3 years in your role before moving on. However, there is a steady flow of employees who spend as little as one year in their roles before moving on. Promotions are based on management favorites Must have a chemical background (chemistry or chemical engineering) for most roles Limited opportunities for minorities... you have to be white to be noticed Most jobs call for technical experience that is not actually necessary Hiring Managers are not brave enough to look at non-chemistry backgrounds for promotions

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns. We appreciate your feedback and hope you find the following information helpful. BASF Corporation's current policy does not require an employee to be in a position for three or more years before they can move to a new role. We generally prefer that employees stay in their roles for at least 24 months, however employees may move to a new position after 18 months (or perhaps sooner in certain situations) with the approval of their manager. We encourage you to review the policy and consult with your HR Business Partner or the Director, Talent Acquisition. BASF prides itself on being a diverse and inclusive employer, and is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which people of all backgrounds can do their best work. BASF Corporation has been named to the Top 50 Companies for Diversity in 2013 and 2014. We strive to provide professional opportunities for all BASF employees, and are committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and to compliance with all laws that prohibit unlawful discrimination. Decisions on promotions and job requirements are based strictly on business needs and specific policies, which are applied equally to employees. We encourage you to contact your HR Business Partner or your manager if you are interested in other opportunities within BASF or if you have any concerns. You are also encouraged to contact BASF’s Chief Diversity Officer to learn more about Diversity & Inclusion at BASF.
