      Pros

      Ability to work from home, lots of smart and driven co-workers, good place to get experience in environmental consulting

      Cons

      Lower than average pay, limited opportunities for advancement or bonuses, lot of cliques/silos within company, no transparency with management, lack of communication within company, lots of turnover, very few people seem to actually enjoy working here, company culture is morbid, company seems directionless at this point, losing work to competitors due to sinking reputation, terrible work life balance

      Only As a Last Resort

      Pros

      Working from home is encouraged, decent benefits, good clients, low to mid-level staff are bright and begin their careers here with energy and optimism.

      Cons

      Those who made this a great company years ago (talented mentors and leaders, passionate and valuable staff) are leaving the company en masse, while those responsible for the downslide remain. Arcadis is losing work from their biggest clients (e.g. Chevron, BP) due to poor technical and safety performance and excessive overhead costs. Morale is at an all-time low. When I left, I didn’t know anyone that hadn’t recently updated their resume. Yet management is oblivious to their responsibility for this and continue this downward slide with no end in sight. Management’s increasing focus on internal politics and self-promotion while decreasing focus on retaining talented staff (zero) and providing service to their remaining clients will cause both talented staff and valuable clients to leave the company. My current company continues to rise in the ENR rankings while Arcadis has dropped each year over the last 4 years.

      Pros

      For the most part, the people I worked with in my office. That's it. Program where you could purchase company stock at a discount was a plus, but knowing what I know now about this company, I wouldn't participate in that program.

      Cons

      Total disregard to employee happiness. Frequent scrutiny on your billable hours from week to week, yet senior level people are the ones permitted to seek new projects. A horrible place to work that affected me beyond just work day hours.
