Pros

1. Applied offers educational allowances, if you have the time to take advantage of it. 2. Applied is well respected amongst its industry; vendors listen to you 3. Majority of the office workers and engineers are very intelligent which makes the place an incredibly competitive yet enlightening place to work in

Cons

1. Because majority of people are A-type personalities, there is a cut-throat culture. If you show any incompetence or lack of skills, you will be chewed up and thrown out 2. The most skilled and brightest executives are tyrants yet extremely successful at doing their jobs (excluding people management)

Pros

Financially stable company with a good vision. Most employees and senior management are very capable and hard working. Objectives and goals are well established and driven down to the individual contributor. Actively pursuing business segments outside of the traditional semiconductor markets such as solar to reduce the impact of down cycles on business. Fairly compensate their employees with base salaries and good bonus programs.

Cons

Some of the groups are very well managed with an extreme amount of dedication on achieving company and segement goals. Unfortunately, there are groups within divisions with more hostile General Managers that play a high degree of favoritism towards individuals loyal to the GM. Groups outside of Santa Clara or acquired through acquisitions can be outcasts.

Pros

One of the main reasons to work for Applied is its global footprint and the emphasis it places on customer relationships. One gets to really understand how a large corporation works in an international setting. Other main reason is the flexibility to move to different divisions within the company and to different roles. Great place to network and meet some really interesting people.

Cons

1. Long work hours -> Some times the management just expects you to live for the company than to work for it 2. All work and no play 3. Cafeteria - Sucks big time. 4. Lot of travel.
