Pros

Bleeding edge technology. You will be working on the equipment that makes the next generation iPod / cell phone / eBook Reader / whatever possible. Though this company doesn't have the same name recognition as Intel's or AMD's, they depend on AMAT to get their products to market. AMAT is also full of some really smart people.

Cons

If you're not a Technologist or (hardware) Engineer, good luck getting anywhere. This is a technology company and management does not acknowledge that it takes other roles (Operations, Materials, etc) to actually get the product to the customer.

Pros

Diverse work force, some of the people truly care and are wonderful to work with. Pays well with good benefits. Some managers support the telecommuting option which makes work/life balance great (others don't like it and make it painful for those that are using telecommuting). They make excellent quality products, but silicon business isn't what it used to be.

Cons

Senior management is very disconnected with employees and has no sense of reality of what is really going on day-to-day. Some managers aren't very flexible to work/life balance. Lots of double-standards, senior management expects everyone to cuts costs, but they themselves aren't about to trim a nickle and reduce their comfort level.

Pros

Very good benefits and overall compensation...

Cons

Senior management treats people as dispensable... in the current down turn, managment has chosen to keep it's luxury box at the HP Pavillion, it's Net Jets contract, and too continue to pay itself very generously. CEO - $9M, CFO $6M Also agree with other comments on organization structure and leadership... or really the lack of leadership. The CEO avoids all hard decisions and the CFO is a meglomaniac
