Pros

Leading edge technology Smart, motivated employees Healthy, very-rapid growth in business Great customer service ethic Positioned very well for future expansion Sound strategy

Cons

Pressure cooker, working environment is very stressful Lots of ninja fixes, patches, nannies, workarounds, and hacks ("spit and baling wire") On-call 24X7 for almost everyone in software development and management Rapid organizational changes and reorganizations are common Very political environment, everyone is consolidating power or protecting turf Many generations of software in various stages of "decay" with deteriorating support Organizational and institutional entropy is continuous

Pros

Safety first! Time-off requests handled well. Due to overtime, some of your coworkers will become like family. I have created several relationships at this company that will last a lifetime. Amazon.com is a customer-centric company. I take pride in knowing I am part of a company that

Cons

-Safety seems to be stressed only to avoid liability. -Management postions are given exclusively to outside hires. -Assignments can become tedious exercises that serve no other purpose than being "busy work." -Human Resources is nearly impossible to contact, and when you have finally have they treat you like a child. -From managers to warehouse associates, Amazon.com moves people around as they see fit. My schedule has changed five times in four years which has caused me to to lose touch with my family and friends. This company asks for you to sacrifice so much, yet does little to reward you other than the occasional shirt or slice of pizza. -I have not had a raise in two years. While the company rakes in billions, we peons are left with the crumbs.
