Depressing workplace

Pros

Salary okay, vacation time good, good work hours, some perks, good relocation services.

Cons

Was hired in Bad Homburg but not a German speaker which was incredibly challenging. Before I was hired everything was happy days and all sounded so good but once hired HR seemed like enemy number 1. There are people in HR who don't speak English, it was so hard to get answers to the questions you have. Everything you needed to know you had to find out for yourself. Some managers allowed working from home some did not, not at all aligned which creates an atmosphere of envy and resentment, I even experienced an argument over a screen, all so petty and people seemed so insecure. Biggest problem management - aloof and arrogant and you feel totally detached from decisions made, strategy and way forward. You keep hearing "we are the biggest anyway so it really doesn't matter when and what we deliver" very depressing. I would not recommend anyone to work there.

Pros

Very good work-life balance, no organisational stress Good salaries Multi-culture friendly environment

Cons

- very pure carrier possibilities, no carrier path, managers do not support promotions and there is no clear requirements to get promoted - no strategy, no planning, projects are started randomly and never finish - Nice is overtaking and it demotivates Erding employees completely - solution are made "by someone on the top", no influence - very pure (if any) HR support - overall it is very demotivating and people stay only because of salary

Pros

There are many reasons to work for Amadeus. For starters: - Top-class professional challenges - as the leading IT company in travel industry - Frequent training programs, certifications, opportunity to learn latest technology - Above average salaries - if you are senior and you made a good deal when signing the contract - Very well established procedures for everything: technology (such as automation or strictly defined workflows) and personal (such as salary raise, promotions, benefits, etc) - A lot of competent colleagues to work with. People from all around the world who have a lot of knowledge in their area

Cons

Due to the size of the company and the size of the data center(s) - sometimes changes take too much time and a lot of effort is needed to implement such changes. But this is also a positive aspect, if you consider it as a professional challenge. Another disadvantage, for me personally, is location - specifically Erding. The company is in the middle of corn fields, and most of the time there is really nothing interesting to do, unless you are an agriculture fan, so maybe you could enjoy all those fields... Shops are never open when I have free time, and everything else closes very early. E.g. the swimming pool closes at 18h, Erdino amusement center closes at 19h, so by 20h - everything is closed and the town looks like Raccoon City in RE. Complete boredom, 95% of the year.
