I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Mar 2025
Interview
Had two rounds of interview, first with the team manager and second with another member from the team. Both were fairly technical mixed with a little behavioral questions. Both for them went directly into the core problem that the team is working on and we spoke about that for almost 3/4th of the interview and spent the rest talking about my work and profile.
Screening round. 30-45 mins. Mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking questions. Asked about fasteners, electrical components, and the mounting of enclosures. Overall good experience in the interview. Would interview again if given a chance.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Tesla
Interview
Just wrapped up an interview process that started with an HR round, followed by a solid 1-hour technical discussion. The focus was heavily on battery design, so be prepared to dive into the fundamentals and formulas—especially around:
🔋 Battery architecture
⚡ Charge/discharge cycles
🧪 Electrochemistry basics
📐 Design parameters (energy density, C-rate, SoC, thermal considerations)
Some questions went into the mechanical design aspects too—things like shock & vibration testing, packaging, and cooling systems.
