I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at RBC
Interview
Interview was a two step process: phone interview and in person with a Branch Manager. Phone interview was mainly behavioral based, and the in person one was a combination of basic questions like "tell me about yourself", " strengths", "weaknesses", past experience. A word of advice, this is a sales job. You will have weekly targets: mortgages, mutual funds, credit cards, accounts opened, etc. So, make an emphasis on your sales skills. Also customer service. Also, probably the most important piece, on how you can build relationships: get to know people, understand things about them, their family, what their goals are: short term, long term, what they want to achieve financially. And then you can recommend products. And follow up with them. So, relationship management is a huge piece. This role is about selling, but selling the correct way. Not the used car salesman way lol.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2012

got referred by a friend, the interview was short and easy, there was instant connection and I was put at ease by the manager. got hired right away and the decision was communicated immediately, start date was within a few weeks.
