I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lidl (London, England) in Feb 2021
Interview
After successfully completing the online application (including online tests), I was invited to a phone interview. Next stage involved a face to face interview with two area managers. A relatively straight forward interview for experienced retail managers, who can demonstrate their skills and achievements confidently. I was asked to firstly present my SWOT analysis, that had been completed prior to the interview. After that, a series of general (CV + experience) and competency based questions. The final interview was conducted by the head of sales and an area manager. Again - not tricky if you're a charismatic and experienced retail leader who can demonstrate some good achievements.
Lidl are looking for hands-on leaders with a natural ability to engage and motivate members of staff in order to improve store's figures whilst keeping operational costs to a minimum.

Interview
I have applied for the Store Managers role.
The Interview was well planned however the location was neither easy to find or well guided.
More than 4 people got lost and arrived late to the group interview.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
The interview was heavily focused on LIDL (introduction) and very little on your competencies.
You have to have strong research of the stores and visit and try to speak to team first hand, who work there.
The worst part was after the presentation and questions when I had 1 to 1 interview with HR Manager / Director for the UK.
During the interview, I have been asked how will fit into Lidl with my prescribed Tom Ford glasses?

Interview
Online application was thorough, I was emailed inviting me to a face to face interview. Became apparent I had missed a telephone stage interview at the end of my face to face interview. Face to face interview was awful, I conducted a swot analysis which I wasn’t requested to do, within the swot I stated some analytical data which I had thoroughly researched prior to my interview. The interviewer told me my numbers were incorrect but couldn’t correct me, I insisted he checked and he became quite frustrated with me and cut the interview short. Unless you currently work in the food industry I wouldn’t recommend applying to work for the business.
