I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GoTo (Santa Barbara, CA) in May 2019
Interview
I applied through LinkedIn. A recruiter contacted me shortly. We talked on the phone briefly, mostly about my background and the role. Next step was talking to the hiring manager. Not very technical, we dove deeper into what I have done at my previous roles and I got to ask questions about the role and the company. After that, they set up an onsite interview. I met with 4 engineers one after the other. All of them tried hard to make me feel comfortable. All the questions and challenges were fare for the position I had applied for. Nothing out of ordinary. Shortly after the interview, the recruiter contacted me with the details of the offer. I did not negotiate, but there obvious was room for negotiation.
The hiring manager seemed like a very nice, hard-working, and ambitious person. I only declined because I found another role that is more aligned with what I like to do, and also, the team at the other place is more diverse.
One thing that was a little strange was that in the end, they asked for my immigration documents even before sending me an official offer. I did not want to give them that much information before receiving the offer.
