long process, where candidate speaks to at least 6-7 managers/editors. Beat editors were very focused on the kind of stories ideas and reporting/writing skills you can bring to your job. Managers were more focused on your personality and team work spirits.
interviews become repetitive after a while but every step is important.
company prefers reporters with existing sources and can hit the ground running and start breaking news.

Met with about 7 different layers of editorial. This started with the people who would be my direct bosses and went up the editorial chain. Eventually had to meet with the editor in Chief. Took a copy test. The interview questions were mainly discussions about my previous work. People were generally professional, curious, and asked what appeared to me to be relevant questions for the job I was applying for.
