Question 1
about technical and based on semiconductor questions
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials (Santa Clara, CA) in Jan 2022
Interview
I had a routine interview process. having a phone call directly from the hiring manager and when I said I have two other panel interview and have to make my decision, he scheduled panel interview within a week. I had 45 minutes presentation and then 4-5 half an hour one on one interview. After all this I received a job offer and I signed it. Since I did not have a greencard they asked me to apply and send them the OPT card which I did. Then they told that they have to apply for export license which I did not know about it at this time. I agreed and declined my other two job offers and waited for 2.5 months until HR called me and said we have decided to decline your job offer and cannot wait for an export license.
I am sharing this experience and you might think this you will not have issues regarding the export license for any reason, but it shows how much reliable and trustworthy the company is. I explained to them that I have declined other job offers and stayed loyal by waiting for the license without applying to other companies. All they said and did was one sentence: We are sorry to hear that!
I had similar issues with another company and I explained my concern. Although I had not received the job offer and the panel interview was positive, the director of engineering set an appointment just to explain and apologize that this issue is the reason they cannot proceed. If you care about where you work and how much the company and its people support you, this is a clear example for all of you!
