Lockheed Martin benefits

4 weeks vacation, 1 week sick, 1 week personal, plus 1 week off during Christmas and New Years for plant shut down. Also an option to buy additional time off.

The pay is above average for a defense contractor, the health insurance and dental/vision benefits are reasonably priced (there is only 1 health insurance plan to pick from). The 401k is about average with company matching. Good work life balance, very flexible schedule and I mostly worked 40 hours/week. Paid time off is accrued monthly and is average for the industry.

Lack of bonus structure

No special benefits in SIkorsky. It's just like any other company that provides Health insurance and 401K plan. But the best thing that had happened to sikorsky is the Lockheed Martin integration.

Pension for salaried employees was scrubbed, to be incorporated into some savings scheme at an upcoming date. Medical plan was reduced to one choice which was restrictive - Still adequate if you were healthy. Dental plan was of minimal use - free checkup and cleaning 2X/year - predetermined percentages for any particular treatment made it nearly impossible to be reimbursed at the annual $1500 maximum.

Nothing extraordinary about this companies benefits. They are mediocre to decent and most are generally content with their benefits. All expected benefits are there for the employee to choose from, but they do not offer anything that would make them more or less desirable from other large companies. From my experience, they are on par with other large companies. You may find more attractive benefits from a midsize company, but the security of a large company is a draw. Please be aware, in 2016 all health plans increase by about 3% annually. For many employees who receive a typical cost of living increase for the year, the health insurance increase negated their raise. In some unfortunate cases, employees with families effectively saw their wages reduced because the increased annual cost of insurance was greater than their annual percentage cost of living raise.

Compensation is good but the Medical/Dental benefits are not that great. There are no options you either take the company policy or not.

Competitive medical benefits, low cost, lots of options

Health insurance for new employees is limited to LM Healthworks...which is pretty good, but there's no choice. The only ESOP is part of the 401K option, and not discounted to encourage employee ownership. 401K matching is into the LM stock fund...need to distribute regularly for diversification.
