Pros

If the right people like you, you'll earn a fat paycheck and move up very quickly. Some teams are great and helmed by people who work their up from scratch - but really only 2 or so teams. This is not the rule. Very much the exception.

Cons

The right people are often white, German men. The right people prefer to speak German, even when the majority of the room does not. The right people promote their friends into high level executive positions (even though there are locals who are more qualified and have been in the job longer). The right people tell uncomfortable - sometimes sexual - jokes about their cars and the race of the locals. There is little space for non-white men, much less non-white women.
