Pros

The company is highly respected for its commodities research and consulting services and I felt supported by the leadership and valued for my contribution. Colleagues were hard-working and knowledgable which made for an energising work environment.

Cons

The company continues to grow and is transitioning its technology to enable more integration of analysis and insights across commodities. There is an opportunity to increase the pace of this transition.

Pros

I don't recognise some of these negative views on GD. I feel for these few who may have not had a great experience. So let me start with putting the record straight. I've been at Woodmac for over 5 years and in that time have been given every opportunity to grow and develop my skills, knowledge and experience. Wherever I look at Woodmac, I find kind, supportive, commercially aware and very smart colleagues. When you're trying to develop a culture of continuous success, there are going to be some who struggle to keep up but there is help for them as much as there is for those who are very ambitious. Woodmac has recently started a graduate hiring scheme across the business and seem to have hired outstandingly for the future to grow our own talent and leaders of the future. While some of the development opportunities are truly encouraging for all. We have more diversity in our hiring than previously and the middle management work tirelessly for our success. I've not met a more approachable head of the business as the current one (Mark Brinin) and our sales leadership has genuine vision for the business.

Cons

Salaries are good and for those who over perform, the rewards are excellent. But of course they could be better! There are better payers out there, like in any industry but that doesn't mean I would enjoy working there, have the same autonomy to run my business (as my manager keeps reminding me) and have the accountability and challenge I was looking for.
