VMware is a visionary company in terms of what they are famous for. However, see my comments about working on a product unrelated to what VMware is known for.
Cons
VMware is a great company in terms of its primary focus. However, they also have some products that are out of their mainstream. I worked on one of those. The management of this group was completely clueless in terms of the industry, the competition, and the product direction. They have no ambition to make a better product. Instead, they were happy to make a little money based on maintenance revenues from legacy customers. Working in an environment of 2nd and 3rd-rate engineers running on auto-pilot was very frustrating. Had I known this in advance of joining, I would have never signed up.
