Pros
People in R&D are really terrific. The overall engineering team is filled with talent and energy, sincerity, and passion. Many front line and middle managers are trying really hard to do the right thing. Campus is awesome, reallly earth friendly, terrific environment from that regards.
Cons
There is tremendous tension and mistrust among most groups. A lot of senior managers have come in over the last two years from failing software companies and have brought their people with them, in some cases entire departments at the cost of some long time dedicated VMware people. Silos exist everywhere and there is no accountability for internal programs or projects. HR can never get anything done. Just completed annual reviews and many people never got a meeting with their managers. Annual pay increases were late, arrived today and many many people received nothing. This will be two years for alot of people who did not get pay increases.
