Pros

I currently work at United Parcel Service (UPS). United Parcel Service (UPS) offers a secure and stable job. I am not worried about job loss during this economic recession. There is always plenty of work to do. There are always ton of new people to meet. There is always a ton of experienced partners to guide you for ward. The work day is never dull. There is also always some one around to help you out. Lunch breaks can be very generous depending on how your days are going. There is also quite a bit of freedom on the road. Job requires one to be very self motivated.

Cons

The hours are dreadfullly long. You will never expect to find a 40 hour work week. Work life balance is always at a minimum. They typically station you quite a distance away from your home, which leads a long, disatisfying commute to and from work. The process of relocation is dreadful unless your nose is "super brown." Management is always driven by numbers, which at times seem very unachievable. Senior management also forgets where they came from when it comes to priorities with the immediate job description (ie. driving a number on a report which is on the bottom of the departments priority list.)

Pros

The health insurance was the best I have ever had eventhough I had to wait 12 weeks after my thirty days of probation for them. The insurance is free, as in they don't deduct from your paycheck. The lack of interference with school or another job that you want to work at.

Cons

The starting pay is $8.50, after 30 working days it increases to $9.00. The work pace can be demanding but you will get use to it if you want to. The management always wants more but the trick is to find out the flow rate the equipment was designed to handle and just stay above that.

Pros

part time benefits are on par with full time benefits of other companies. Not many companies will offer the type of benefits for part time work that UPS does.

Cons

Manual labor can wear down one's back. You work out in the elements more or less. Facilities vary from station to station which impacts your success.
