Pros

A salary that is slightly above average to others in the area

Cons

Where to begin. I would say micro-management, but even that word does not adequately describe the way that the upper management in the site manage the ISRs or the Supervisors. It also does not adequately describe the way that the Supervisors manage the ISRs. I think a more accurate description of the management style is management by intimidation and bullying. There are nit picking metrics that we are measured on, including one particularly arbitrary number included in our goal that has no direct effect on your "percent to plan" . This job feels like it is one step away from requiring you to read off of script cards. There are some "initiatives" that are brought out where we are essentially required to harass our customers. While I understand that while we are at work from 8-5 each day, some of us have family situations that occur with our children or spouses that must be taken care of or handled. Management does not look kindly on having to take time to handle these situations. You are also not allowed to be sick- ever. If you are ever sick, you are required to have a discussion with your supervisor and sign papers that say "I understand that it is important for me to be at work every day, and if it happens again I could lose my job" The same for being late.

Pros

Starting pay is very reasonable for a part-time employee. Its a great job for college students because it will pay for your college education from your first day at work. There is a very good chance of advancement in the company as they like to promote from within. Ups offers many good benifits to all its employees. They offer vacation, 401k, free health dental and vision after working there a year. They also offer a pension plan after working there only a year.

Cons

Sometimes drivers are treated bad but the get paid very well to compensate for it. Some people dont like union

Pros

Great benefits and a reputable company that delivers a superior product and that isn't going away.

Cons

Poor pay. Incompetent management. Ever changing "plans" to help you get ahead. Unrealistic demands. Lack of integrity regarding internal reporting. Unreasonable rules that work well in outside sales headquartered in the UPS centers but totally irrelevant to the Inside Sales environment. Questionable promotions. Failure to prepare promoted individuals for their new jobs. No opportunity to allow new employees to consult with the people they are replacing. Threatening employees jobs if they fail to meet multiple unrealistic expectations. Having employees sign documents stating that they recognize all their shortcomings and that if they fail to meet expectations they will be terminated. Time wasted in meetings and consultations with management that take the ISR away from their job. Worst job I've ever had.
