Pros

I don’t have any cons to highlight, as I was initially very happy to receive the offer; however, it was then quickly withdrawn based on assumptions that my lifestyle would not suit the team.

Cons

I recently interviewed with the escalation team and was thrilled to receive an offer, as this is a role I was genuinely excited about and eager to grow into. After receiving the offer, I asked whether an 8–5 schedule could be considered due to my family commitments, while also making it clear that I was willing to work the originally proposed hours if needed. The team initially agreed to adjust the hours, and I was waiting to receive the final contract. However, the following day, the offer was unexpectedly withdrawn. I was informed that the decision was based on concerns that my lifestyle might not suit a fast-paced environment, referencing past experiences with other employees. I find this reasoning both disappointing and concerning. As a working mother, I feel assumptions have been made about my capability and commitment without giving me the opportunity to demonstrate otherwise. I have experience working in demanding, fast-paced environments, including my time at Amazon, where I consistently performed well. If I did not believe I was capable of succeeding in this role, I would not have applied. It is disheartening to feel that personal circumstances have been used to question my suitability, particularly from an organisation that promotes diversity and inclusion.

toxic culture, will not back

Pros

Maybe there were business trip opportunities, but now is rare.

Cons

Toxic Company Culture: You'll only survive here if you go against the company culture. The company doesn't want you to stay long and contribute continuously; you might suddenly leave without warning. Your leader wants you gone quickly to avoid delaying recruitment, even if you're highly capable. Lack of Humanity: Many colleagues are extremely rude and constantly ask you for favors. There are many other signs, too numerous to list. Work Intensity: Performance is aligned with colleagues in mainland China. Even working hard in Sydney isn't enough. Did you know that some people work 996 hours, even 007 hours a day for this job? If your performance is poor, expect to be fired. This doesn't necessarily mean you're not working hard; it could be because you haven't won over your leader in China. In short, it's very unstable. Blindly Betting on AI: Every department, regardless of its role, must be related to AI.
