Pros

There is a one-year rotation program for FAE. During this time, you have the opportunity to learn a lot of different hardware knowledge and do many bench tests to solidify your understanding.

Cons

Personally, I feel TI puts too many sales responsibilities on FAEs although in the company FAE is actually half sales. Maybe an application engineer is a better choice if you are focused on technology.
