Solutions engineer organization is the last bastion of customers' technical support. The SE role & responsibility is not clear. SE's coverage is not only presales activities but also post sales and product supports. Roles are highly dependent on the manager's career background. If the manager comes from an engineering background, he or she is expected to become more tech savvy; if the manager comes from a sales background, he or she is expected to pursue sales.
