Pros

For salaried team members at the stores level - Great opportunities for advancement Positive work environment Consistent feedback (both positive and critical) A focus on leadership development Excellent communication from headquarters as well as senior management Encouragement of work/life balance At the store level, required to stay active...great for those who don't appreciate sitting at a desk all day Empowerment - within your role. Every other weekend off (almost unheard of in retail) Don't have to worry about what to wear to work - it's Red & Khaki! Working at the stores level for Target, I am challenged every day. Managing over 100 people and up to 15 different areas of a store can be very intense at times. I appreciate the focus on leadership development that Target has, and know that in one year with Target, I've grown far beyond where I was as a leader. You learn that you can't be a leader without a team of people, and that therefore it's all about your people. Managing talent is a huge focus as your team will make you successful or will help you fail. I definitely recommend target to those who are: ...interested in a company where there's unlimited growth (and almost the same in income). ...able to be on their feet all day, full of energy (thankfully there's a Starbucks in most Targets today!) ...quick to learn new things and can be resourceful in an appropriate manner ...able to manage many things at once, multi-tasking beyond what others might think is possible

Cons

For salaried individuals - 50 hour workweeks or up to 70 at some times...but the leaders know when you work long days and try to give you time off when they can. It's retail, so there's little time off during the holidays.

Pros

The best reasons for working at Target are lots of room for advancement. As a manager, you also get every other weekend off. That is good in the retail business. Target is also a fast, fun and friendly place to work. The management pay is also very good. I also like wearing the comfortable clothing. You also get a 10% employee discount. And of course the huge variety of employees makes it a great place to work. I also like the fact that our name tags only have our first name on the badge and that their our no titles on it.

Cons

Some of the downsides would be working every other weekend. It would be really nice to have all weekends off, but reality is that it is retail. The late hours is also a downside. There are times when you would work until 1 a.m. You can also get lost in the huge amount of employees a store has. A single Super Target store can have 300-400 employees.
