Pros

Jobs are all over the place and Target is still a growing company that usually opens up new stores regularly. I enjoyed my current position as a Planogram Team Leader because my schedule was set and I did not have to work any weekends. Depending on your interests you kind of have an opportunity to work in an area that you were interested in. The pay is comparable to that of many other retail opportunities. The job that you ultimately do is fairly easy once you become familiar with the overall process, it repeats on a yearly cycle. I enjoy working early shifts.

Cons

Management is usually incompetent and does not recognize employees who are able to think outside of the box and do things in unconventional ways. I always achieve great results but since I do not do them the Target way I at times get reminded that I am doing things incorrectly. Promotions are based on who kisses butt the most to their superior, rather than who is the most fit for that position. I have worked there three years and each year they cut back more and more on staffing allocations each year. The positions become more and more babysitting than managing over the years.

Pros

Target can be a lot of fun. I met a lot of great people working there. They were always flexible with scheduling, which was necessary for me as a student.

Cons

It would be very busy, and each person would have to work especially hard. For the amount of pay, they really know how to stretch each employee as far as possible.

Pros

Good Management coupled with people who care ... usually. Of course, it all depends on what region you work in and whether or not you have competent management. For instance, I hated working in Virginia because they were all slave drivers where politics reigned when advancement opportunities arose. However, I love working in Colorado because the environment is a lot friendlier and the people here actually know what they're doing. Simply put, if you're someone who'd rather be busy doing a physical job than socializing all day or in an office this is a great place to work in the right region.

Cons

As stated above, different regions and districts have different ways of doing things. Some are better than others. If you want to socialize all day and not work hard physically then Target is not for you.
