Pros

Great environment, Helpful management, team players all around!

Cons

Not much room for advancement... nothing was ever available, everything stayed filled (which is actually not a con- when you think about it- says a lot about the company)!

Pros

Overall, Target provides a good work environment. The teams are usually fun and friendly.

Cons

The two things that have bothered me the most are, 1) Target's actions during the economic downturn and 2) the way promotions are handled. First, Target claimed because of the economy they had to cut hours and store positions. Yet in the employee magazine a month or two after the cuts were made, they bragged about how much money they were spending on sponsoring motorsports teams and X Games athletes. Target talks a lot about its social responsibility; the best way for them to be socially responsible now is to, above all, put people to work. Second, it is way too hard to promote from within. I'm more qualified for an executive position than many of the new hires they are getting from the outside and fresh out of college to fill those positions.

Pros

Target was a good place to work at overall. Decent shifts (even though it's retail), friendly staff (but each store is different I'm sure) and average pay.

Cons

their "tests" to be promoted have the tendency to weed out good people. Aim to answer like the "average" person would on the promotional tests and you'll do well. Don't answer too high (as I did) because it automatically flags you as lying (although that wasn't the case for me). And as usual there was the typical politics playing a role in promotions, etc
