One of the most demanding stores in the country, love the business just not always my job.
Pros
- The off price model of the business is fascinating. - No two days are ever the same. - Lots of learn. - Great people (sometimes). - Always the opportunity for overtime. - Creative aspect of the job was always enjoyable. e.g. merchandising.
Cons
- Poor work-life balance - getting out 2 hours late at 11 pm is not acceptable when your a 16 year old student. Neither is being given 20 + hours per week when your on an 8 hour contract. - Not paid on your worth - everyone is paid the same wage but not everyone does the same job. - Very limited in store career progression opportunities - managers just don't have time to arrange training. - The 'off price' business model means that payroll covers the absolute basics therefore there is never enough staff. - Rotas are always up late - sometimes as late the the day before your shift. - Managers are not interested in your personal life. They have no respect for personal problems, illness, education or any other commitments you may have.
