Pros

Good pay, decent associates (roughly all around the same age - students)

Cons

Too many managers, no training given, expected to know everything within a short period of time, have to ask every single customer for feedback on service - if you don't, there's a strong chance you'll be fired, the managers treat their employees like crap and only care about the stores reputation, managers bully and victimise new associates, and the list goes on...

Pros

While I have always maintained a pessimistic view of the retail industry from past awful experiences, TK Maxx is by no means the worst. - Pay is very good for retail which is currently £8.15 per hour after a probationary period. - Vast majority of managers are very friendly, approachable and understanding. - In-hour progression is widespread. If you're motivated enough, you can jump into a team leader position within a year and progress all the way to store manager. Many store managers started off as associates 10-15 years ago. - Lots of overtime during busy periods meaning lots of extra money.

Cons

- Can be very tedious during quiet periods, resulting in angsty managers trying to get you to 'look busy' when there's nothing to do. - Short-hour contracts mean little pay during the first quarter of the calendar year. - Certain managers tend to play the 'god' role too often, resulting in demotivated and angry staff at times. - Lots of overtime means good pay but can also affect your social life which can often lead to exhausting shifts the following day. - Security measures lacking quite often.
