Pros

Employment here is best used as a stepping stone to better employment elsewhere. Work is bid at extremely low prices, opening the door for young (cheap) and eager (long hours) employees. You could get a position here which you may not be able to obtain at another firm allowing you to learn a great deal in a short amount of time.

Cons

Very limited advancement opportunities. Poor salary's. Compartmentalized organization. Distant management. Compensation is top heavy. RTSC is the only Raytheon Company that does not engage in profit sharing or other means of recognizing the workforce while Management receives extremely large bonus's.

Pros

Only defense work available in Indianapolis. Regarding potential earnings, one would be better off working for one of the subcontractors that sub to RTSC Indianapolis: Northrop Grumman and SAIC.

Cons

1. No technical career path available 2. Promotions take years and pay scale flattens after 5 years 3. This environment can be frustrating for intrapreneurs - fast movers

Pros

If in the right position, you may significantly grow technical skills that one is not able to do elsewhere. You have the opportunity to work with and think about technology that is knowledge limited. You have a decently stable position that one can grow a family and have a decent work/life balance.

Cons

This is a knock at the industry and not the company. The hierarchy is strictly structured like that of government bodies, making it harder for engineers to advance their career as it is in other industries. The pay is not as generous either as other industries, but is a payoff to its stability.
