Pros

Health benefits were exceptional, catered meetings, free coffee and snacks, gyms with good group exercise classes, paid volunteer day

Cons

Things changed a lot as I was getting ready to leave and since I left the company. I've heard the twice yearly reviews/ bonuses got cut to one and the health benefits are no longer as great. Tension in the air as people await news of layoffs and group politics can be extreme. Hard to move to other opportunities within the company, and can only make lateral moves.

Pros

They pay you a salary

Cons

Support services are in chaos, IS have had experienced staff and managers fired, you deal with someone with a script in a call centre somewhere on the other side of the world who is polite but clueless. Calls are then lost and must be chased daily for weeks before anything happens. Director to President level managers all act like they are petrified of being fired and are much more worried about covering their rears and looking good than about actually solving any problems. Bucks get passed instead of issues being worked on, it's like being in a giant game of pass the parcel with the prize inside being a ticking bomb. Promotions are rationed and handed out to favourites rather than on the basis of ability. Everybody is terrified of making commitments in case they can't meet them, so rather than make a decision people call a meeting and try to delegate or escalate until they are off the hook. San Diego is the centre of the universe, but don't have a clue about time zones and expect UK to work on their schedule then act all hurt if we don't want to routinely turn up to meetings scheduled at midnight. Management keep saying "no more headcount reductions" rapidly followed by another round of sackings. Do they think we are too stupid to notice? I worked at CSR for over a decade before it was taken over by Qualcomm, it's impressive how fast they have turned around the company and made it into a disfunctional nightmare.
