Pros

One of the best ESPP programs in the Valley Great Health Benefits Lot's of ability to be creative Jensen is a great leader and very passionate about the company

Cons

There is no work/life balance really... it's always work. Do not like the new professional time-off policy, it discourages employees from taking the time-off they desperately need. Would really like the ability to work from home occasionally, which is discouraged at NVIDIA. There is not much internal career potential for employees, it's almost like you need to leave the company before your are appreciated or recognized.

Great learning opportunity...but at a cost

Pros

More often than not, NCGs get to experience different stages of ASIC design and develop a broad skill set. Work is fast paced and exciting. Management is usually very good about communicating future direction/strategy at every level.

Cons

To extract the most out of the job, long hours are inevitable and compensation is usually not commensurate. All bonuses are tied to the company stock.

Pros

The work can be interesting and the engineers are very smart. You will rarely feel that your coworkers aren't up to snuff. Your work is can be quite self directed depending on your direct manager. The benefits package is good. The stock varies wildly so it is possible to get a nice kicker on the salary from the ESPP and stock bonuses.

Cons

The upper management treats the engineers like children. The praise for a job well done is shallow and public scolding via email is a common technique to "motivate" individuals and teams. The constant state of emergency dulls your senses over time. The lack of investment in infrastructure to prevent the next crises is frustrating and demoralizing. The workplace is all business all the time - all employee events such as holiday parties have been turned into charity events that management will pressure you to contribute to.
