      Pros

      Absolutely the last time ever you will want to look for a new job. Once you arrive at Munich Re, you have arrived at the best place and the last place you will be working if you are a career actuary. Munich Re provides a structured onboarding process, from inhouse practices to cross team introductions. They provide numerous opportunities to upskill on the job, and you are never discouraged from reaching out to other teams to collaborate on projects. You will not find yourself yearning for tools that may improve your daily tasks, they even have dedicated teams that streamline market research. The Underwriters are often just as cautious as the actuaries, and they have a fantastic approach to risk appetite, which releases the actuaries from the burden of gaming the numbers. Compensation is in the two 0.1 percentile of the industry, and they have a generous 401k match, a defined contribution style retirement plan, and a full breadth of ancillary benefits. Flexible work environment, with only two days in the office. Though with the discounted cafeteria, and onsite fitness center, you will want to come in more than twice.

      Cons

      The policy management system could use an overhaul, and the associated database it populates is poorly engineered, though it appears with a new chief data officer, this single shortcoming is going to be addressed too!
