Best engineering job I've ever had.

Pros

It's engineering-driven, meaning engineers have a lot of say in the direction of products. They've given a lot of responsibility and expected to take ownership in driving things forward. The organization contains the most talented people I've ever worked with. And so far, it's struck the right balance between providing enough resources (like a big company) and giving everyone ownership over what they work on (like a small company).

Cons

It's not as small as it used to be, and it's sometimes difficult to keep up with what's going on across the company.

Pros

Facebook's "move fast and break things" culture avoids assigning blame for reasonable mistakes, which is a wonderful thing. Teams actively avoid separating creation and responsibility, so you are actually responsible for code that you wrote. The engineers that I get to work with are amazingly skilled and good coworkers

Cons

Tools and APIs change, and old systems are actually deprecated and removed, so part of the process of moving forward goes toward staying in place

Best place I've worked.

Pros

Benefits are generous (food, laundry, commuter shuttles, etc). Most coworkers were truly intelligent, friendly and hard-working. Focus on efficiency, depending on the team. No emphasis on face time. Little politics given the current size of the company though they exist.

Cons

Getting larger and beginning to exhibit large company characteristics: moving slower, less outstanding new hires, great folks leaving. Focus on retention didn't seem to be there, but then again, I left.
