Pros

1. Very open culture. 2. Management team is open to feedback and is probably the best you will find in the tech world. 3. Conducts pulse survey to get a sense of employee's opinions and is taken quite seriously. 4. Work is quite challenging and the perks are probably one of the best in the industry

Cons

1. If you are in ops, it is really hard to have leverage, since it is an engineering-centric company, which is expected and ops is considered more "support" and "cleaning up the mess" type of role. 2. Because FB is quite the name, it is easier to hire a new person than hire someone internally. Since every single employee here, there are tons of other talented people outside that can be hired. So turnover happens for those that burnout or are stagnating in their roles and cannot progress. If you are in a non-tech role, it can feel like you are "replaceable" because there are 100's if not 1000's of people waiting in line to get your role that does something that is not as advanced as coding or building production code. 3. work/life balance as most say can take a toll on you, but this is up to you take control. 4. because everyone is really talented and the best, it is hard to get promoted unless you are the most prolific unicorn amongst all of the unicorns. It is still, however, a good starting point if you get hired.

Hired into an executive role at Facebook

Pros

As an establish Silicon Valley executive, Facebook moved fast in courting me and offering me a competitive package. They have excellent on-boarding and training programs: for individual contributors, for managers, and at the executive levels. Senior leadership is very approachable. Its straightforward to find good mentors and collaborative partners. The "social networking" that goes on inside the company is richly informative and generally very positive. Despite being a large company, it retains a youthful feel, with an appetite for risk and decisive action which is dazzling given the scale and the weighty consequences that entails. People are honest and direct, and "company politics" is discouraged by a robust culture that strives to keep alive the best of Facebook-- while also staying pragmatic and adaptable. The company is earnest and generally unflinching in applying its principles. Especially, it moves fast and gets things done. Earnest and purposeful. Human executed processes, around hiring and planning, are tight and well reasoned.

Cons

The company is so driven by short-term impact that it is relatively harder here to carve out large, long-term plans. Work-life balance can be an issue. Separation of professional life and personal life is less here than some might be comfortable with. Internal tools and quality can be lacking -- but there is a rising commitment toward changing that.

Pros

Smart and brilliant people Respectful communication Diverse people Huge impact that you will be making Great product with positive development dynamics Lots of opportunities to change the roles/teams within the company Amazing perks

Cons

For what you get in perks you need to be ready to sacrifice work/life balance. You will be spending most of your time either working or hanging out with colleagues Sometimes unhealthy amount of travelling (which is not always necessary in modern world where you have video conferences) Middle management is bad. People who are promoted into the roles very often are not ready and not much willing to learn how to manage people. There are no poor decisions by managers. They will always be right. There is a big gap between the ideas of the head office and the actual needs in different country markets. Facebook is becoming big and slow machine when it comes to actions and decision-making.
