Pros

Exciting, Dynamic work environment Great campus and resources Company is relatively stable Depending upon your job role it's a challenging place to work

Cons

Work culture comes off as arrogant Most managers think the company is the end all be all but outsiders and formers know better Hiring process is arduous at best. They take a long time to make a decision and most hiring managers have such big egos that they feel qualified candidates coming in are a threat. As a result, it takes forever for them to make a decision to bring someone in. They say they have never had lay offs - that is a lie. They did.

Pros

Stable company; everyone has an office. Health benefits are good. Free beverages, fruit and cookies on Friday. People are very pleasant. Salaries are average. Jack is a positive leader and has created a strong and technically superior product.

Cons

Polices and processes are inflexible and plentiful. Many processes are not posted and people get blind-sided by peers or managers in reviews by these unwritten rules. HR Review process is very old-school and cumbersome, and focused on what you do wrong. Unlike all modern companies - there is no option to work from home (allowed a maximum of 3 days a year).

Pros

MathWorks offers a great work enviroment, where you feel like your surrounded by a bunch of like minded people. People want to work at MathWorks because of it's great products and great work/life balance. Perks from the company include free breakfast on Wednesdays, cookies on Fridays, free soda and coffee 24/7. MathWorks operates on a set of core values and that is reflected by their heavy investments with employees with great healthcare, tutition reimbursment, 401(k) and other benefits. MathWorks also invests in the company with lots of spending on R&D. They are truly planning for the future.

Cons

People like working at MathWorks because of the quality of life it offers; however, they let give up higher pay, chance for career growth, and opportunity of making an impact at the company. MathWorks is focused on the process and that is seen in every aspect of company life: product releases, promotions/hiring, change to benefits. Everything has to go through a process to get approved. You won't get rich at MathWorks unless you've been there from the start. And the process for getting promoted is vague and the ultimate decision seems to rest in HR's hands, not your dept. Alot of requirements for promotion are things that are out of yoru control, like years of experience.
