Pros

Colleagues I work with daily

Cons

Area Management are poor and lack people skills. They show no appreciation for your hard work and have no clear direction despite knowing there are a lack of hours in the stores. Managers were told not to tell anyone about our security guard being ill during lockdown so the store could stay open to the public. All the Area Managers had a meeting in our store upstairs in a meeting room and then they all had to isolate for 14 days because ours had COVID. Their bosses would have known and yet nothing was done. At store level we would have no doubt been in trouble.

Pros

Only the Money is Good

Cons

Bad Health and Safety practice during COVID. Only bothered about trading not customers or employees health. No security guards despite being busy and lack of staff. Just to hit their prod target. Working Times bad- I knew people who done over 20 / 30 hrs straight. Poor COVID procedures- one staff member died and many sick in a store in quick succession. Kept trading despite staff complaining. Poor treatment of staff and conditions- Bullying went on and grievance took place. Company denied it despite loads of people going to the management. All in COVID. Senior Management lack of integrity- covering each other’s backs giving out disciplinaries for nothing. All were at it. Shame many on here aren’t all honest with views and just thinking about a career that isn’t there. False promises. Very untrustworthy individuals. Don’t know why people shop there. Maybe one day customers will realise what they’re like.

Pros

The pay was good, the other customer assistants were soo lovely to work with too. Feel incredibly homely among the other customer assistants.

Cons

Awful management that didn’t care to listen to requests when it came to hours, was contacted for 20 hours which seemed perfect as I run a part time business, but was continually given over 30 hours and when requested for less than 25 hours was essentially told I was being selfish and was asking for too much. Many other colleagues complained about being given too many hours they weren’t contracted for. Instead of management being friendly and supportive to colleagues there was a continuous play of power with most workers feeling unable to turn to them for help. Sexism in the work place, management refused to call me by my name referring to me by gender and age instead. There was an obvious distaste for women with management acting as if women employees were less capable than male counterparts, which is definitely the reason that there were basically no female employees. Completely understaffed. In the Event that one person calls in sick the entire shop is chaotic with managers not doing anything to help, leaving customer assistants to scrambling around trying to turn chaos into order.
