Pros

I think the last comments are a little short-sighted and unfair (as well as incorrect), there are American directors in HR, Real Estate, Procurement, Construction, Purchasing - perhaps not in Supply Chain or IT yet, but it's only a matter of time and effort before we prove ourselves there too. In general I think any ratings which have only one star or five can be ignored. True comments will always be constructive and realistic.

Cons

I'm a millennial too, but I feel a lot of my millennial colleagues have unrealistic expectations. I think the Europeans are ok, but they seem to be under a lot of pressure too.

Completely lack of recognition

Pros

- Cool mixed/open environment - Young workforce and lots of exciting people to meet and learn from - Willingness to try new technology and systems

Cons

- Outdated: Suits only and no work from home - Promotion: This is the most absurd part in Lidl US. People who got promoted are either putting in 16 hours/day (of course Saturday and Sunday count!). Lots of people got promoted after 4 or 5 months and they have no ideas what they are doing. These people are super young with unproven results yet but provided title "Senior manager". - The real "senior" management team is favorable on gender. I hate this say this but this is what I experienced during my time here. - Management team fails on recognizing hard working employees and believes as they think each person will need 2 years to adapt to multiple projects and can be assigned to new role. I have proven results from what was asked at the beginning but I had to leave in disappointment because that was a complete lie.

A BIG NO

Pros

- Lidl is a big company with a big name. - You can make a decent salary coming out of college. - Lots of diversity.

Cons

To be completely honest, I was really looking forward to writing this review for so long, but I don’t have the energy to write every terrible thing about Lidl… it would take too long. To sum it up, if you have any kind of experience, I would highly recommend NOT working at Lidl. Although there were countless cons, my biggest problem was the department I was in… Marketing. Although this was MY biggest pain point, you will have a hard time finding ANYONE that is happy working in ANY department at Lidl. The Marketing leadership has NO idea what they are doing. The only way to work your way up to the top is by sucking up… no knowledge or experience required! Leadership is extremely threatened by anyone who has any knowledge or experience. If they sense you are smarter than them they will stop telling you vital information and leave you out of important meetings. Leadership has absolutely no management skills and I am fairly positive their LinkedIn backgrounds are a hoax. They have costed the company so much money and caused lawsuits that could have easily been avoided. Pretty sure they wrote the glowing reviews before this one, check them out for some fake news!!! Good luck recruiting or keeping anyone who knows anything about Marketing if you don’t get rid of the leadership! Again, there were SO many cons to Lidl (checkout the other reviews for more details), but the leadership has got to take the cake.
