Pros

This is a a good place build your career if you are coming out of college. The firm offers a lot of exposure to different kinds of business however you have a chance to get type casted. Above all, KPMG is working hard towards becoming the employer of choice and it offers good benefits .

Cons

Due to it being a partnership firm, there are a lot of secrecy towards sharing of financial numbers with employees or even finding out background information on events that may affect you - both financially or professionally. Promotions are not handled fairly - you need to be in good books of your partner. At the level of staff positions (associates/senior associates) there is no consideration of past experience and training (higher degrees like MS/MBA/PhD) that you may bring to the table - they do not hold much value.

Pros

It is a global company with great clients that looks great on a resume. The recruiters are very personal and work hard to ensure that you don't just become a number. I have recommened several people to work for the firm and they love it too. The culture is very laid back compared to other Big Four firms. They treat interns really well, great food provided, travel experiences.

Cons

The time required to work and travel.

Pros

Flexibilty, paid time off, the amount of different clients and environments that one is exposed to. Very competitive pay. Travel can be rewarding. There are only 5 levels at KPMG, associate, Senior Associate, Manager, Senior Manager/Director and Partner. Promotion can be rather quick and with only 5 levels, you can do the math. There is also a good 401k where they match 75% of 5% of your salary. There is also a pension. Vesting for the 401k is 5 years and the Pension is three years. Health benefits are good and there are five weeks, yes 5 weeks of paid time off. There is also 2 weeks of paternity leave. Depending on your group there can be great flexibilty in your work schedule.

Cons

Travel. It can be at the last minute, and makes family life hard sometimes. As you get higher up in the organization there are strict rules on what kind of investments you can have and as new clients are acquired you can be expected to sell off investments even if it means taking a loss. Also, a lot of the time I feel like I don't have home at work, I'm constantly moving workspaces and working straight from my laptop. Sometimes it would be nice to have a office or cube to myself. Hours can be very very long sometimes.
