Pros

KPMG offers strong career growth potential, especially if looking to move into another industry. This is definitely a great place to build your resume, since the job offers such a high learning curve and requires that you don't stop learning.

Cons

Public Accountants work a ton of HOURS and do not get paid OVERTIME. This is often times depressing considering the amount of work on hand. Additionally, KPMG has yet to transition to a 100% electronic audit. This is at times inconvenient and causes the company to use a lot of unncessary paper.

Pros

KPMG provides accounting graduates with a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge all while receiving a large amount of vacation and receiving comparable pay relative to the other Big 4 firms. KPMG is strongly promoting their Employer of Choice iniative which is evident in the way they treat their employees, random gifts and perks, special discounts(CPA exam reimbursement, CPA bonus). KPMG continues to promote knowledge sharing and provides a large amount of training that will benefit any person who makes accounting a career choice.

Cons

As with any Public accounting job the hours during busy season can be rough. In smaller offices I heard hours can be even worse than in Dallas. Although there are some 70 hour work weeks there are other periods when there isn't a lot of work to be done. It all balances out. It often feels like some Partners in the firm seem distant and above the interns/associates, but that has gotten better over the course of the last three years. At times I feel as though the communication between the national office and local offices is lost.
