Pros

You are surrounded by bright people and there is a lot of opportunity to learn about different clients, industries, issues, and opportunities. The environment ,while sometimes cliquie, offers a lot of camaraderie. The benefits are decent and the vacation time is generous.

Cons

The hours are long - not because they need to be to get the work done, but because utilization and face time are important. The "Employer of Choice" is a marketing tool, but poorly put into play. You can voice your opinion regarding what projects you would or would not like to work on but in the end you will just be placed where they want you to be - regardless of where you live. Depending on management you are working with, you may get haggled about justified expenses (e.g. train fare or mileage and tolls). Vacations are expected to be flexible (you may be asked to cancel or postpone). Promotions are far and few between depending on which group you work in.

Pros

Compensation and Big 4 name

Cons

Lots of hours, a bit of travel. The possibility of getting a 'bad' client is always there. It is somewhat the luck of the draw. You can draw a great client with a huge budget and enjoy your lunches on them as well as fewer hours spent at the job comparatively. OR, you can get a bad client with a small budget. The people can treat you poorly, you can put in lots of hours, and possibly have bad seniors on the job. KPMG does allow movement within the company if you get bored though. Overall a very great place to work

Pros

There is opportunity for advancement and you will learn fast (in part becasue turnover is huge). Big 4 firms will look good on your resume. You work with smart people (who generally leave soon after starting).

Cons

In general, smaller markets mean you won't work on large or public clients. There's no work life balance. It seems management doesn't care about employees. You might be out of town for months. You will have no life at "home" when you get back. If you stay with the firm you can expext the people you become friends with to leave. Requests for certain types of assignments are ignored in favor of convenienceof management.
