Pros

Since they are sort of restarting their consulting practice there is hope for change.

Cons

KPMG is not what it use to be. I think they have a lot to go before they get back to what they use to be.

Pros

Maybe a decent name to have on your resume and may look good to some future employers, but that's about it.

Cons

You will get backstabbed, sabotaged, and trampled all over. Coworkers will pull out all the stops to make your life miserable. Even people who are not in direct competition with you will slander you and play all kind of dirty tricks just for sport. There are only two types of people who can survive long term at KPMG: 1. Slimeballs who naturally belong in and flourish in a backstabbing toxic work environment. 2. People who don't mind getting taken advantage of, being stepped all over, and being treated like slaves. If you don't fit into the above two categories, this is NOT the place for you. It's little wonder that most departments in KPMG are like revolving doors. KPMG's bad reputation is very well deserved. It is an absolutely disgusting place to work.

Pros

- good work/life balance (but I came from a banking background where I had to work much harder) - good benefits - interesting work (when you can get it)

Cons

- the politics, nothing gets done without the approval of about 5 different partners, all with different views and big egos - analysis by paralysis culture - completely disregard for its staff, I was surprised about this when I joined as KPMG had Won the Sunday Times best company to work for. It is all about which partner likes you and promotions, internal roles are based on that as opposed to merit - some silly decisions made just to keep face i.e. transfer the global Marketing & Knowledge management teams over to Canada - huge expense and not many people made the move - there are some exceptions of course but overall management does not lead, they manage (badly) and also no one listens and try to work out why morale is so low I left after a year, completely gobsmacked by the 'me first' culture I found in this place.
