Pros

Intel is a great place to work. It is a world leader and there is great fexibility at work. Compensation can be very good if you care to negotiate while joining and they need you badly enough. There is no deferential treatment; the CEO to the RCG - all sit in similar cubes and are provided the same resources.

Cons

Values hard to practise in reality. The real value of the very elaborate process of rating and ranking employees during focal is questionable. But I suppose that is true in all companies of that size. I have seen disgruntled employes in several groups who were unhappy about their dead end jobs. Once again, I think this is true for all big companies. It is not possible for everyone to have a spectacular growth path.

Pros

Exposure to a wonderful, talented workforce, and diverse cultural environment. "Boot camp" for corporate America. If you can make it at Intel, you can make it anywhere. Compensation is good.

Cons

Brutal politics. Not enough oversight of and too much discretion given to mid level managers who are, in many cases, unqualified to be in their jobs.

Pros

If you live in Oregon and are an electrical engineer then there are not a lot of options - Intel is the best from a very small selection.

Cons

Most of the interesting engineering work is being done outside the US - China, India, Israel, etc... Continuous pressure to move engineering work outside the US - either Israel expansion or low-cost geo. Polarization between marketing and engineering.
