Pros

Talented colleagues who care about the work.

Cons

I joined Indeed optimistic about contributing to a company whose mission is to help people get jobs. Unfortunately, the experience inside didn’t reflect that mission. The biggest challenges came from constant reorganizations and poor leadership alignment. Teams were often left to navigate unclear priorities, shifting expectations, and frequent changes in direction. As an employee, it felt like the real work was not about impact but about meeting a manager’s personal expectations — even when those expectations didn’t connect to strategy or outcomes. There is a culture of reaction over planning. Processes are set up after the fact, not to help people succeed. Performance “improvement” tools felt less like support and more like documentation for exit. Even when accomplishments were delivered, they weren’t acknowledged in favor of moving the goalposts. To be fair, there are many talented and dedicated individuals at Indeed who care deeply about the work. The issue is structural: without clear ownership, consistent strategy, or leadership accountability, it becomes very difficult to do meaningful work or grow in your role.

Pros

I met and worked with some amazing people there who genuinely care about what they do and advancing the mission of helping people find jobs.

Cons

- DEI is a cult here. You have to subscribe to it, or you'll very quickly feel isolated. Real diversity includes diversity of thought, which isn't welcomed. I was told by leadership I couldn't share my views, even when delivered in a professional manner. - Layoffs. There has been a layoff each year for the past three years, but there's somehow money for the restaurants and coffee bars, or to help relocate employees from conservative states. I think most people would rather keep their jobs. - Clarity about jobs. I was recruited for one position, then told it changed during the interview process, and again after I was hired; I was told the position no longer existed, and it was renamed. Turns out they were still hiring people with that title, and paying them more. I had to fight to get the role I was recruited for, and was told it was a promotion.
