Pros

At IBM I was Implementation Project Manager for IBM’s SAP General Ledger – NA Deployment, as well SAP Security Analyst on IBM’s initial security structure for its NA Integrated Supply Chain. In addition, I have worked on several large, complex, enterprise wide projects in over 15 years of IT assignment. Some highlights are as follows: • Project Managed NC Department of Transportation initial installation of SAP GRC • Implemented Security Roles for IBM’s initial deployment of SAP NA Integrated Supply Chain - developed initial Segregation of Duties • 10 years with IBM’s Financial Systems group • Diverse background working assignments in SAP IT Security, Financial Systems, Order Fulfillment and Business Transformation • PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University.

Pros

Absolutely fantastic company to work for. Great career opportunities for further growth and development. Great people and culture. Take a littel while to find the ropes but once you are settled, IBM has great assets and looks after its people very well.

Cons

Some red tape and processes which at times can slow you down, but this is no different to any other large organisation. But if you are patient and work through it in a methodical manner the framework works well.

Pros

Benefits, pay, intelligent people to work with (mostly), opportunity for advancement and growth (personal and professional), special events and classes are offered, ability to work from home, flexible hours usually, support in getting certifications/training.

Cons

Hours, especially when they blend into time I had scheduled for personal appointments. No matter how much work done in the past, if a manager wants you to work because he/she feels it's necessary (but it really isn't), then that manager expects you to be there. Either that, or the workload can require the extra hours. 'Work-life balance' is now called 'work-life integration'. I see the point, but I disagree with this approach. After all, work is supposed to be about 1/3rd of our day. The other 2/3rd of the time is personal/life.
