Pros

I joined IBM because of the variety of job opportunities within the company and it certainly delivered that. During my almost 25 year career, I was in sales, programming, marketing and management. They provided me with paid time off for personal reasons multiple times. Though they laid me off, the separation package was very fair.

Cons

It's a very large company with lots of politics. The best people aren't always the ones promoted to management and executive positions. Communication can be difficult because of the matrix management and, again, politics.

Pros

In a sales function, the name IBM certainly opens doors with prospective clients; they're more willing to listen. There is more than enough training in all aspects: function, product, industry. I enjoyed and miss working with smart and dedicated professionals. Direct management that I experienced was fair and reasonable. Lots of fun networking opportunities in major cities.

Cons

Things move relatively slow in a large organization and consequently enthusiasm can lose steam. On the other hand, a recent reorganization in sales and marketing swiftly cut thousands of positions. Once hired, if you want to stay with IBM, learn as much as possible, keep your eyes and ears open, and network like crazy to secure your next position.

Pros

They trust their employees.. They monitor their employees performance based on objectives. ex. they will give you your objectives for 2010 it will consist of this: 1.)no late filing of leaves 3.)100% customer satisfaction 4.)no late submission of reports 5.) you need to pass 3 certification exam with microsoft until december 30, 2010 6.)must attend all mandatory training Activedirectory training, Win2k8 training. etc.. 7.)etc..... You work on your own and they trust you. you will not be hearing any voice from any superior or wil receive any emails..They will trust you to complete all of this things and they will not monitor you. It doesn't matter to them whether you work from home or at the office as long as you meet all of your objectives, they will based on that as your performance. So even if you don't want to go to the office you can work ofcourse just make sure you already have a VPN.^^ In short they simply trust their employees judgement on things whether if he needs to go to the office or if he can just work while in a vacation...... WORK and LIFE BALANCE....

Cons

as of now I have nothing bad to say..... lets just wait and see
