Pros

Great company. Once you have the experience of working for IBM, it helps you find another job easily. Product is good, stable quality even the price is always higher than competitors. But one of the best things I have to say that IBM has lots of professional managers that willing to help employers grow and to be successful. I have had the opportunity to work with those managers that are open minded, understands employee's needs, concerns, and willing to listen. Overall, the working environment is pretty good, compare with other companies I worked before, and worked after I left IBM.

Cons

too much internal political, but it maybe unavoidable almost anywhere. IBM product is always famous for good quality, however, I could not understand why it is so hard for them to cut the cost, and when I worked for PC division, the one that sold to Lenovo later on, IBM could not effectively resolve issues from supply chain, and internal program error. As a leading IT organization, it looks difficult for IBM to resolve these issues, and it certainly hurt the company's reputation. I know they have tried, but it did not work well. I hope it gets better now.

Pros

It is a industry leader. Opportunity to work on varied projects and clients. Nice place to learn new skills, broaden experience.

Cons

If you are in a travel required role, the efforts required to be on the road and to comply with stringent travel rules are not really compensated. Employees spend too much personal time to satisfy the job requirements, outside direct client billable work. Work/Life balance is a major problem if you want to make progress in these roles, while trying to maintain a healthy family balance. People in perform roles are probably better off looking at local opportunities unless they have other goals.

Pros

Brand recognition. People recognize the brand and it does carry value as a technology provider. In regards to services, it is still trying to build a reputation in other service offerings. If you are looking for stability, IBM is a great company.

Cons

Very large company. It is hard to network. You have to take the initiative to met people and find growth opportunities. The company focuses on the bottom line too much and sometimes ignores it's people. Projects can be mundane and boring. Billing hours is a top priority, but this is typical at most consulting firms. Bonuses are small compared to competitors.
