Pros

Lower workload compared to the salary. Flexible work time. Sometimes you can choose working at home. Lots of spare time.

Cons

Few opportunities to personal development, bad management and communication. Managers don't rely on all employees. Someone could always get the chances of training, project leading and promotions while others never see the changes. They would like to disscuss and make decisions within a very small team and then announce to all employees.

Pros

The pay is good, and you get to work with people around the world as well as a bunch of hillbillies in North Carolina. IBM is customer focused.

Cons

The review system does NOT promote teamwork. It is cut-throat. Also, IBM never does anything new or creative. You use old tools to work on last years technology. IBM buys new companies, it doesn't invent or create anything. Its heyday is long behind us. This is sad. Also, the stress level is unbelievable. I've seen people crying at their desks far too many times.

Pros

Great opportunity to move around during your career. Excellent education opportunities. Great innovation with large dollars spent on R&D (#1 in patents for 15 years). Decent benefits. Very flexible work hours. Working from home with budget for home office.

Cons

Off shoring, downsizing, forced moves, too much work per technical worker, bureaucracy abounds, fat upper management. Respect for the individual has declined, but all companies now days treat employees as an asset instead of a person, until you are not longer considered an asset , thus terminated.
