Pros

Pro= A great place to grow your career. Here is my personal experience working for HubSpot for a little over 5 years: Before I joined the HubSpot sales team I had ~8 years sales experience, so like a lot of folks on the Sales team here, I was pretty well along into my career. I understood sales when I joined the company, but 5 years later I've also had the chance to learn and do a lot more than I'd bargained for. Here's just a small sample of what I've gotten to work on so far: - Refine my sales skills with the best sales org in the business -Create and build my own team from scratch- going from experiment stage to fully functioning cross-functional team -Learn how to hire, build, coach and manage a team -Learn how the operating system of a top-notch business is run, and how to replicate those processes - Learn how to go from start-up to scale-up.. which is incredibly valuable in the market. I have been trusted to do all this with a ton of autonomy, but also with the support and guidance of a very smart group of people. I can't imagine how else I could have learned, and actually *done* all of this any other way, any other place.. in such a short time. Hundreds of my colleagues have a story a lot like this one, and there will be hundreds more, I'll bet. All of these challenging opportunities have made this more than a "job", but really a fast track for my professional (and personal) growth. It is a privilege to work for and learn from an extremely bright and talented executive/management team. Our founders, and especially our CEO, have been a couple of the most influential people in my career. It is worth mentioning that I am also a mother with young kids, and have found an exceptional work/life balance here because our leadership genuinely cares about the team and creating an environment where working parents (of which there are many) have the flexibility to take care of our families and our careers at the same time. I've been able to balance everything that is important in my life while earning a very good living to provide for my kids. I am proud of the company, our product, the smart team I get to come work with every day to help our customers be successful in their businesses, and the fact that we have a lot of fun while we do it.

Cons

This is, for sure, very hard work and the bar is high here. Since tech moves so fast, and what our customers need is always evolving, we all need to move fast too. That means always being out of our comfort zones, updating skills and iterating. That might not be the right fit for everyone. You really have to thrive on that, I think, to get as much out of your work here as I have.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for five years helping our customers and company grow. We are delighted you've chosen to build your career and your sales expertise with HubSpot, and that you've done it while parenting young kids--they must be so incredibly proud of you. I would echo your experience on personal and professional growth--I think the opportunities here are unmatched along with the people, so thank you so much for your hard work, for your review, and for making HubSpot such a great place to work every day. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

A lot of upward mobility for someone starting out their career in sales. If you perform well you'll get promoted

Cons

Typical cutthroat SaaS sales culture. Not much job stability

Sorry to hear that and thanks for the review--my experience with our sales team is that they are competitive with themselves but collaborative with one another, so much so that I frequently hear reps helping each other with deals and managers helping reps from other teams support prospects and customers, so my hope is that your experience was an exception not the rule, but happy to connect offline if you'd like to chat further on this. I would agree that the sales team is a high growth opportunity for folks who are high performers, so glad to hear that was the case for you here! Sincerely, Katie

Pros

HubSpot Support is a really amazing team. Everyone has eachothers backs and as far as I know there is no backstabbing or nepotism. The perks are amazing and I enjoy coming into work every day and being able to proudly tell others about my place of employment.

Cons

The salary. The salary is so low. It is nearly impossible to live in Boston on 35k a year. This is a very technical job and Support Engineers know more about how to use and troubleshoot our product than anyone else in the company, and the salary/level of respect we get does not reflect that.

Hi there, Thank you for your thoughtful review. Before I dive into some of the specifics, let me first say that I think of our support team as anything BUT a call center--in fact, the chart showing how the support team has grown within the organization is my favorite stop on any tour I give of our Cambridge offices. I'm very proud we work at a company where our customers get remarkable people on the phone when they need it AND where every team in the company is clamoring to hire support engineers because they know our product and how to problem solve so effectively, so don't think I (or anyone else on our leadership team) takes that for granted. With regard to pay, we invested heavily a few years ago in the growth side of the equation so that we could really ensure that support engineers get the training they need to succeed not just in support but throughout the organization and their careers, so while as an entry level salary it may not seem compelling at face value, I think the upside far outweighs similar jobs at other companies. With that said, happy to chat with you about how we can solve for your perception on the respect side of the equation because it's something I care deeply about, so let me know if you'd like to connect offline there. In the meantime, thank you for all that you do--our customers' success and our company's growth are a direction reflection of your hard work and impact, so thank you! -Katie
