Pros

-Good management -If you're a good worker, they put you on different projects instead of standing at the cash (good management) -Flexible hours for students (more on holidays, less during school) -Good teammates -I think 25 or 30% discount code for employees and their families.

Cons

-Interview was 1hr long...I don't see the value in it. Quite difficult to be a simple worker at HomeSense -Often calling to work overtime (if you like it great, I didn't)

Pros

Good community Lots of different things to do Management are open to cross-training all over the store Never a dull moment I have had great experiences with all my co-workers and rarely have a bad day - everyone is in this together. Even in the COVID world of empty shelves and customers complaining about it (and also not wearing masks, real considerate), it's never too negative around. Even with all the cons being written in this review, it's the most pleasant customer service job I've ever had.

Cons

Benefits are a joke Retail environment - high turnover, shift work, poor pay Expected to do a lot of work for little money Physically taxing Hours for scheduling/staffing based off previous year's, which doesn't take into account current population of the area, or, for example, blizzards that stopped people from coming in last year and leaves the store understaffed. Not easy to move up the ranks Dated technology Paper schedules??? It's 2020 and we can't have a schedule emailed to us when its generated? Related to schedules - any changes made, you are often not contacted. So if your schedule was changed but you're not in the store to check, nor did you know, you will not be told about it. If people call in sick, they don't call people to replace them. Lean staffing: as per all min wage/"low skill" retail and food service work, the bare minimum of staff are scheduled, so you're always spread thin. No buffer if people don't show. Unrealistic time limits for literally everything. Their simulation/calculations for how long moving merch takes, or unloading a truck, is rarely accurate. Human beings are not drones, let alone the sales floor being full of customers, calls for help over the PA, and so on.
