Pros

- Top leadership (the CEO and people just below him) are quite good. They have grand plans - Processes, from tiniest to biggest of things, are fairly organized. Like, Travelling for Business, Reimbursements, Appraisals, etc. Everything has digitals associated with it - Breadth of work is great, so in case someone doesn't like a particular project, theoretically he/she can choose another project - Brand Name : Well known - Location preference. Offices in major cities in India, so, once again theoretically, transfers can be made in a safe (I mean, by not resigning) across India. - Don't have a tendency of hire and fire.

Cons

- Single most important point, Pay. They pay fairly less as compared to many other firms, but, almost the same as other Service industry stalwarts like Infosys, TCS etc. - Shout too much. Many false claims about being best, being leader, having best pays is being done, even when internal reality is not so - The middle management is sluggish at the best. They are essentially a residual of attrition of best brains which has been happening since a long time - Off late the tendency has been to move towards mechanized way of working. Automate/Generalize everything possible in a single template and force everyone to use that system. - An unofficial thinking that if a work can be done by 4 freshers, why hire a professional. Hire, Knowledge Transfer (on paper), and deploy. Quality of work is not primary, getting it done is important - Though HCL is highly process oriented, it is not always the best way to deal with various things. Like Quality of work - process orientation kills diversity of work.
